This isn’t the first time that I have to wake up early for a morning walk. 5 years ago I did this clean eating challenge for two weeks and then started waking up early to exercise. The exercises were 3 times a week meaning I would wake up at 5.45am alternate days and exercise for about 45 minutes, have breakfast and get ready for work. I think I did that for 3 months and that built the foundation for me to lead a healthy lifestyle. However, in the last 2 years, my health has been declining and hence, this morning walk challenge. Let’s go week two. Read week one here for an introduction on why I’m doing a journal entry on my daily walk.

Day 8

I didn’t want to get out of bed today. I even considered going back to sleep but I didn’t. I got out of the house by 6.15am. It was quiet the view, from the west sky the moon was shining bright and from the east sky, the dawn was breaking. It was a bit windy today. It started yesterday. I preferred it not to be this windy as you don’t get the same fresh air when it isn’t. I walked for about 30 to 40 minutes.

It was quiet the view, from the west sky the moon was shining bright and from the east sky, the dawn was breaking.

Day 9

The problem with sleeping early with me is that I keep waking up in the middle of the night. It’s annoying waking up and checking the phone to find out it’s only 3am when I got 3 more hours of sleep to go. Anyway, as usual the initial getting out of bed was hard. It wasn’t windy today so it was pleasant to walk. I walked for about 30 to 45minutes.

As much as I hate waking up, going for the walk does make me feel better and it gives me energy to get through the day. Day 9 done, hello March 1st!

Day 10

I got out late today. I started the walk only by 6.20am. Sleep is so important in waking up early. I almost slept in but I remember I have a goal to achieve which is to go on morning walks 21 days in a row. Also, it’s really helping with my mental health as well. I’m more positive and can handle stressful situations in a calm manner.

Day 11

I don’t remember much from today because I’m distracted with my new laptop. It finally arrived today! Anyway, I did get out of the house pretty late today, only by 6.20am. The walk is always good. I just hope I get enough sleep tonight. I’m still on cloud nine with the new laptop.

Walking is slowly building up my stamina.

Day 12

So I slept one hour later than I normally do and woke up feeling like I was floating! I didn’t walk as much today because I pretty much woke up late. I walked for about 15mins and stretch for another 10minutes. Today, we also took beauty (our pet dog 1) out for a walk.
Even though I didn’t walk as much, I still felt good that I was able to exercise a bit and had the energy to exercise. Walking is slowly building up my stamina. Week two almost done.

Day 13

Last night I slept only around 1.30am. My new laptop kept me up as I was installing applications into it. On fridays and because it is the weekend, I don’t put an alarm on. These days I normally wake up before my alarm goes off. Today, I actually woke up at 4am but it was too early to go for a walk so I went back to sleep. Next thing I know, I woke up only at 7.15am. It was already sunny and I was too lazy to get out of bed. I didn’t go for a walk today but I did do some leg stretches. I hope that counts.

Day 14

I woke up early today but I decided to take Tommy (our pet dog 2) for a walk. A quick backstory, when we got Tommy he was already blind from one eye. A month and half ago he lost his eyesight on the other eye. So basically, he is blind. He was able to walk outside but he was still adjusting to his surrounding since this is the first time we took him out for a walk ever since he lost his eyesight. We didn’t walk as much and I didn’t push him to walk as far. I just walked for around 10minutes and exercised another 10. Tomorrow I shall get back to walking for 45minutes.

I didn’t go for a walk today but I did do some leg stretches. I hope that counts.

Reflections on week 2

I feel good going for the morning walks. It is also a time set that I can meditate if that makes sense. It is the time where I can think and observe my thoughts therefore calming in a way. 2 weeks down, 1 more to go in terms of daily/weekly documenting this journey. See you on the next post.
